Explore the Flora & Fungi of the GAP, Learn About Expanding the Hollow, and Hear Fun Facts About the Land's History & Ecology!
Enjoy a ~2.5-mile nature hike from the Boston Ballfield Park along the Great Allegheny Passage exploring fungal and floral life beside the trail on the way to Dead Man's Hollow. Attendees will also hear about ALT's efforts to expand Dead Man's Hollow by protecting land along the GAP and Youghiogheny River. The land is comprised of riparian habitat and is host to community-forged bike trails and bike jump mounds; conserving it would expand the Hollow, preserve this community riverfront access, and connect the Hollow with the Boston Ballfield Park, the GAP, and the Youghiogheny River.
The hike will pass over mostly flat terrain; we'll begin along the Great Allegheny Passage at the Boston Ballfield parking lot, walk through the parcel we're trying to protect, and arrive at the Dead Man's Hollow Ruins Trailhead.
Event proceeds will support the effort to save local land & expand Dead Man's Hollow. Consider adding a donation to help make this project become a reality!
