Girty's Woods Trail Blazing

Registration is required so we can communicate in case of any necessary changes.

Join ALT and the Allegheny Group of the Sierra Club Pennsylvania Chapter for a long walk in the woods! Volunteers will use maps and paintbrushes to paint blazes on trees on all of Girty's actively maintained trails.

This volunteer event is open to anyone interested in Girty's Woods and the growing network of trails therein. With the help of volunteers and private trail-building groups, the trail system has grown and changed over the last few years, and it's time to ensure that hikers and explorers know where they're headed! Together we will review the newest trail maps and split into groups to paint wayfinding blazes on all of the trails.

Volunteers should expect to hike several miles on varied terrain. Long pants and closed-toe shoes are required. Long sleeves and a brimmed hat are recommended. Water and light snacks will be provided, but please bring along your own additional trail provisions!

Because blaze painting is weather-dependent, we'll be keeping an eye on the forecast and will communicate to registrants if a reschedule is necessary.
