Become an ALT Tree Steward
Registration is required so we can communicate in case of any necessary changes.
ALT’s Tree Stewardship program is a volunteer-powered effort to collect data on and care for restoration trees at ALT’s conservation areas. The data collected by volunteers contributes to the Pittsburgh Canopy Alliance’s mission of fostering a healthy and growing urban canopy.
During this three-hour hands-on fieldwork session, stewards will receive the training necessary to conduct census-taking and basic tree care. The group training event will prepare you to take on the self-guided stewardship role at any ALT reforestation site. With thousands of trees planted across over a dozen conservation spaces in Allegheny Country, we need the help of dedicated Tree Stewards to monitor and care for the trees!
Participants must wear long pants and close-toed shoes. Sun protection is recommended. There are no restrooms on site. Tools and gloves will be provided. Light snacks and water will be provided; please bring a reusable water bottle. Tree Stewards will use their personal cell phones to record data; please ensure that your phone is fully charged!
