Identify and manage trailside invasive shrub species

Registration is required to participate in this volunteer workday.

Join ALT's Stewardship team for a morning of invasive plant management at our beloved Churchill Valley Greenway. As we continue to restore habitat and reintroduce native plant species, trail maintenance is paramount for visitors of the greenway to be able to safely enjoy exploring the ever-evolving conservation space. Volunteers will assist with the removal of invasive plant species that are growing too closely to the trails.

Participants can expect to hike several miles on mixed terrain- mostly paved walking paths. Volunteers will use loppers, handsaws, shovels, and puller bars to completely remove invasive shrubs such as barberry, privet, and honeysuckle.

Long pants and closed-toed shoes are required. There are no restrooms or garbage cans on site. Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Event day details will be sent to registrants via email.
